Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Strikes out seven in defeat
DeGrom (10-6) took the loss against the Angels on Monday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over five innings.
After having his previous start skipped due to shoulder fatigue, deGrom looked healthy in throwing 90 pitches (56 strikes) over five frames. He pitched pretty well, racking up 15 whiffs and seven punchouts while allowing just two runs, but the Rangers couldn't back him up with any run support. Assuming deGrom recovers well from the start, there's no indication that he'll need to skip another turn in the rotation as the Rangers make a final push toward a wild-card spot. He's slated for a road matchup against the Athletics this weekend.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Cleared to start Monday
Manager Bruce Bochy announced Sunday that deGrom (shoulder) will start Monday's game against the Angels in Arlington, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
The veteran right-hander threw a bullpen session Saturday with no issues, clearing the way for him to take the mound after having his previous start skipped as a precautionary measure due to shoulder fatigue. DeGrom's 24 starts and 140.1 innings this season are already his highest totals since 2019, and he's looked fully like his usual dominant self with a 2.76 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 148:30 K:BB.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Completes bullpen session
DeGrom (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday and isn't expected to miss another start, MLB.com reports.
DeGrom skipped his previously scheduled start due to shoulder discomfort, which the team attributed more to workload than a legitimate injury. He's already tossed 140.1 innings this season, his most since 2019. DeGrom is tentatively expected to take the mound Monday at home against the Angels.

GM Chris Young said the Rangers will skip deGrom's scheduled start Wednesday against the Royals due to right shoulder fatigue, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
The 37-year-old already returned to Texas to be evaluated and was cleared of any structural issues, but the Rangers will still manage his workload with deGrom's 140.1 innings this season being the first time he's cracked 100 frames since 2019. Assuming there's no further issues, the right-hander's next turn through the rotation tentatively lines up for Monday versus the Angels.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Blanks Jays in no-decision
DeGrom came away with a no-decision in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Blue Jays, scattering two hits over five scoreless innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.
The veteran right-hander didn't allow a runner to get past second base in a dominant effort, as he fired 59 of 84 pitches for strikes and left the mound with a 3-0 lead. It was a strong return to form for deGrom, who had been tagged for 13 runs in 17 innings over his prior three outings. He'll take a 2.76 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 148:30 K:BB through 140.1 innings on the season into his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Kansas City.

Rangers' Jacob deGrom: Takes third straight loss
DeGrom (10-5) took the loss against Philadelphia on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings.
DeGrom got through six scoreless innings but couldn't hold on in the seventh. In that frame, he got the first hitter out but then allowed the next three batters to reach base via a single, a walk and a two-run double. The third run against deGrom came after he left the contest. Though the All-Star hurler was ultimately tagged with his third straight defeat, this was at least a strong turnaround after he gave up 10 runs across 10.1 innings over his previous two starts. In addition to finishing with a quality start Saturday, deGrom also racked up an impressive 18 whiffs, so his stuff was mostly working despite the final outcome. He'll try to get back in the win column in what projects to be a road matchup in Toronto his next time out.

DeGrom (10-4) took the loss Sunday against Seattle, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks across five innings. He struck out five.
DeGrom has now allowed 10 homers across his last six starts after surrendering long balls to Jorge Polanco, Julio Rodriguez and J.P. Crawford on Sunday. The 37-year-old has allowed five runs in back-to-back appearances after yielding more than three runs in just one of his first 21 outings. DeGrom will look to get back on track next time out, though he's tentatively scheduled for a tough matchup against the Phillies.
