Angels' Kenley Jansen: Rebounds with save Wednesday
Jansen notched a save against the Dodgers on Wednesday, retiring all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.
Jansen gave up a tiebreaking solo homer to Shohei Ohtani in the ninth frame Tuesday, breaking a 20-appearance scoreless streak. The veteran closer was right back on the mound against his former club Wednesday, this time with the task of protecting a one-run, ninth-inning lead. Jansen came through, retiring Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Will Smith on a combined 10 pitches. Jansen has now converted 23 of 24 save opportunities on the campaign, putting him on track for his highest save conversion rate since he went a remarkable 41-for-42 in save chances with the Dodgers in 2017.

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Notches save against former team
Jansen earned a save against the Dodgers on Monday, striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning.
Jansen spent his first 12 big-league campaigns with the Dodgers, but that didn't give them any sort of advantage over him Monday. Rather, Jansen blew past the three hitters he faced with ease, needing just nine pitches (eight strikes) to retire the side in order and notch a pair of punchouts. The reigning AL Reliever of the Month has been downright dominant since mid-June; he hasn't given up any earned runs over his past 19 appearances spanning 19.1 innings while picking up eight saves and posting a 22:4 K:BB over that span. Jansen's 2.66 season ERA is on pace for his lowest mark since he registered a 2.22 ERA over 69 regular-season appearances in his final campaign with the Dodgers in 2021.

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Collects 21st save
Jansen struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his 21st save of the season in a 7-4 win over the Tigers.
The 37-year-old closer needed only 12 pitches (nine strikes) to dispatch the top of Detroit's order. Jansen hasn't given up an earned run since June 15, posting a 0.67 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB in 19.1 innings over that stretch to go along with his pristine ERA, and on the season he's 21-for-22 in converting save chances, his best rate since he went an incredible 41-for-42 with the Dodgers in 2017.

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Notches win
Jansen (4-2) picked up the win Sunday against the White Sox, allowing one hit and one walk during a scoreless ninth inning. He didn't record a strikeout.
Jansen pitched in the top of the ninth frame with the score tied 5-5. He wound up with the victory after Taylor Ward swatted a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom half. Jansen has been excellent since the start of July, having allowed merely five hits and one walk over 12.1 scoreless innings. He's struck out 13 batters during that stretch and has nabbed a pair of wins and five saves. He has 20 saves this season.

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Records 20th save Tuesday
Jansen picked up the save in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Rangers, allowing one hit and no walks in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out one.
The save was Jansen's 20th of the season, and he hasn't given up an earned run since his June 15 outing in Baltimore. Since then, the veteran right-hander has a 0.61 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB covering 16.1 innings as the Angels' closer. Jansen has been a rumored trade candidate ahead of Thursday's deadline, and it remains to be seen how a potential move might affect his fantasy value.

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Secures 19th save
Jansen picked up the save Monday against the Rangers. He allowed no hits or walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings.
Jansen earned a four-out save with little trouble Monday, retiring Josh Smith to end the eighth inning before setting down the side in order in the ninth inning to seal the victory. The veteran closer has been dominant in July, giving up just three hits and no earned runs while recording 12 strikeouts, two wins and four saves across 10 outings. The 37-year-old may be past his prime, but Jansen has been a steady presence in the back end of the Angels' bullpen in 2025.

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Strikes out two for save
Jansen struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Mariners.
Jansen sat down Julio Rodriguez, Cal Raleigh and Josh Naylor on a combined 10 pitches (nine strikes) to earn his 18th save of the year. That extends Jansen's scoreless streak to nine innings spanning all of July, during which he's racked up 11 strikeouts while allowing just three hits and no walks. He's at a 3.11 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 37:11 K:BB through 37.2 innings this season.

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Secures 17th save
Jansen worked a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his 17th save of the season in a 6-5 win over the Phillies.
The veteran closer didn't strike out a batter, instead relying on his defense to get the job done on just seven pitches (five strikes). Jansen picked up after the All-Star break right where he left off, as he hasn't given up an earned run since June 15 and has a 0.75 ERA and 13:2 K:BB over 12 innings during that impressive stretch. With the Angels likely to be sellers once again at the trade deadline and Jansen a free agent after the season, the 37-year-old is a prime candidate to be shipped to a contender before the end of the month.

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Collects third win
Jansen (3-2) picked up the win Friday, giving up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning as the Angels downed the Diamondbacks 6-5. He didn't walk or strike out a batter.
The veteran closer got the call in a tie game to handle the top of the ninth, and Jansen got through the top of Arizona's order on just 10 pitches (eight strikes) thanks to a Lourdes Gurriel double-play grounder. Jansen has two wins and a save in his last three appearances, and he hasn't allowed an earned run since June 15, posting a 0.82 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB over his last 11 innings to go along with that pristine ERA. The Angels are still on the fringes of the AL wild-card race, but if they decide to be sellers at the trade deadline, Jansen could fetch a decent return even as a 37-year-old rental.

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Notches first save in three weeks
Jansen earned a save against the Rangers on Wednesday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in one scoreless inning.
After the Angels rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take an 11-8 lead, Jansen was summoned to close things out in the ninth. He gave up a one-out double but nothing more to nail down his first save since June 18. The save drought wasn't really of Jansen's doing -- he blew just one save during that span and hasn't given up an earned run in any of his past 10 appearances, notching a 13:2 K:BB over 10 innings during that stretch. The veteran closer has been effective in his first season as an Angel, converting 16 of 17 save chances while posting a 3.48 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 35:11 K:BB over 33.2 innings spanning 37 appearances.
