Ro Torrence 2005 CB
Seahawks' Ro Torrence: Lands with Seahawks
4h agoSeattle signed Torrence to a contract Friday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.
Torrence wasn't selected in the NFL Draft in late April but will get a shot to make his case for a roster or practice-squad spot after signing with the Seahawks. The 6-foot-3 defensive back played the final two seasons of college with Arizona State and totaled 37 tackles (including 2.0 sacks) along with an interception in 2023. Torrence allowed just 20 receptions in coverage last season, the lowest total among Pac-12 cornerbacks with at least 300 snaps played in coverage during the regular season.

Kitan Oladapo GB SAF
Packers' Kitan Oladapo: Undergoes toe surgery
6h agoOladapo (toe) has undergone surgery and is not expected to be ready for OTAs, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Although he will miss OTAs, the team remains optimistic that Clark will be ready for training camp. He suffered a stress fracture doing drills on the turf at the NFL combine. The rookie was the third safety selected by the Packers in the 2024 NFL Draft, following Xavier McKinney and Anthony Johnson. The Oregon State product will need to get his health back to bar in order to make an impression during training camp.

Le'Raven Clark PHI OT
Eagles' Le'Raven Clark: Placed on IR
6h agoThe Eagles placed Clark on injured reserve Friday.
It is unclear what Clark's injury is or how he sustained it, but he is a rare offseason addition to IR. This will allow the Eagles' some roster flexibility going forward. The journeyman failed to make a roster or practice squad during the 2023 season, but will look to bounce back once his health is back up to par.
-
Tyler Harrell 2005 WR
Jets' Tyler Harrell: Joins Jets
6h agoThe Jets signed Harrell on Friday, Ethan Greenberg and John Pullano of the team's official site report.
Harrell totaled four receptions for 45 yards as a sixth-year senior at Miami in 2023. The Jets are thin at wide receiver going into 2024, so he could be in the competition for the last few spots on their final depth chart.
-
Shi Smith KC WR
Shi Smith: Done in Kansas City
6h agoThe Chiefs waived Smith on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Smith did not appear in a regular-season game in 2023, and now Kansas City has decided to let him go ahead of 2024. He'll have to look for his next opportunity with a different squad.
-
Anthony Miller KC WR
Anthony Miller: Let go by Chiefs
6h agoKansas City released Miller on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Miller initially signed with the Chiefs back in January, but after using both free agency and the draft to add depth at wide receiver, Kansas City has now chosen to part ways with him. He hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2021.

Fernando Tatis SD RF
Padres' Fernando Tatis: Homers among three hits
2m agoTatis went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's victory over the Diamondbacks.
Tatis opened the game's scoring in the fourth inning with a two-run home run off Slade Cecconi. The Padres right fielder added an additional RBI the next inning with a single. His performance Friday night was a welcome sight as Tatis entered slumping a bit, having not homered since April 19, hitting .130 (6-for-46) over that span.

Dylan Cease SD SP
Padres' Dylan Cease: Dazzles in victory
4m agoCease (4-2) earned the win Friday against the Diamondbacks, allowing one run, three hits and no walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight.
Cease continued his brilliant start to the season Friday night, generating 18 whiffs en route to eight strikeouts. The erstwhile White Sox pitcher appears to have re-found his 2022 form, pitching to the tune of a 2.55 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 48:14 K:BB over 42.1 innings. Cease looks to keep it rolling in his next start, scheduled against the Cubs in Chicago.
-
Slade Cecconi ARI SP
Diamondbacks' Slade Cecconi: Shelled in loss
7m agoCecconi (1-2) took the loss Friday against the Padres, yielding six runs on five hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
Cecconi cruised through the San Diego lineup once, retiring the first nine batters in order. However, he floundered in the fourth, allowing four runs, two walks and three extra base hits, including back-to-back homers to Fernando Tatis and Jake Cronenworth. Cecconi looks to bounce back in his next start, scheduled against Cincinnati on the road.
-
Nolan Arenado STL 3B
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Collects three RBI
18m agoArenado went 2-for-4 with two doubles and there RBI in Friday's win over the White Sox.
Arenado gave St. Louis an early lead with a two-run double in the first inning before adding another RBI double in the fifth. Over his previous 13 games, he posted a disappointing .614 OPS with just one multi-hit performance. Friday's game was the first time he drove in multiple runs since April 20. Arenado is slashing .279/.338/.369 with nine extra-base hits and 16 RBI through 32 games.
-
Willson Contreras STL C
Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Perfect day at dish
22m agoContreras went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a walk in Friday's win over the White Sox.
Contreras scored runs in the first and fifth innings, both coming via Nolan Arenado doubles. Since his last multi-hit game April 17, Contreras was stuck in a 9-for-43 (.209) slump in 12 games. Despite the streakiness, he still owns a strong .281/.395/.531 slash line through 114 plate appearances.
-
Ryan Weathers MIA SP
Marlins' Ryan Weathers: Quality in loss
29m agoWeathers (2-3) took the loss Friday against the Athletics, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks over six innings. He struck out five.
Despite yielding three runs, Weathers completed six innings to collect his second quality start of the season. Most importantly, the Miami lefty was able to control the free passes Friday night, allowing no walks for the first time since a June 15, 2023 start against Cleveland as member of the Padres. Weathers is scheduled to make his next start against the Dodgers on the road.

Franz Wagner ORL PF
Magic's Franz Wagner: Perfect from line in victory
2h agoWagner amassed 26 points (7-16 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 11-11 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in 42 minutes during Friday's 103-96 win over the Cavaliers in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Wagner went a perfect 11-of-11 from the line, helping the Magic to an impressive Game 6 victory. It was another strong performance by Wagner, who continues to develop into a key piece for Orlando. Game 7 will take place Sunday, with both teams vying for a second-round berth against the high-flying Celtics.
-
Cole Anthony ORL PG
Magic's Cole Anthony: Closes game Friday
2h agoAnthony accumulated nine points (4-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 19 minutes during Friday's 103-96 win over the Cavaliers in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Anthony closed the game Friday, providing the Magic with some much-needed floor spacing. With Gary Harris (hamstring) unavailable, Anthony slid into a larger role. That could stick for Game 7 should Harris remain sidelined.
-
Joe Ingles ORL SG
Magic's Joe Ingles: Limited in Game 6 victory
2h agoIngles accumulated two assists over eight minutes during Friday's 103-96 win over the Cavaliers in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Ingles played just eight minutes in the win, serving as more of a cheerleader than a player. Now in the twilight of his career, Ingles provides the team with a much-needed veteran presence.
-
Marcus Morris CLE PF
Cavaliers' Marcus Morris: Quiet in start
2h agoMorris registered two points (1-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt), eight rebounds and two assists across 27 minutes during Friday's 103-96 loss to Orlando in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Morris played 27 minutes as the starting power forward in the Game 6 loss. The Cavaliers will be hoping Jarrett Allen can overcome his rib injury and get back on the floor for a must-win Game 7 on Sunday.
-
Tristan Thompson CLE C
Cavaliers' Tristan Thompson: Logs 12 minutes Friday
2h agoThompson posted two points (1-3 FG), two rebounds and one block across 12 minutes during Friday's 103-96 loss to the Magic in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Thompson played as the primary backup behind Evan Mobley, something that Cleveland fans may be hoping will not happen again. Other than providing additional size, Thompson rarely has much of an impact on the court in the late stages of his career. Jarrett Allen (ribs) will almost certainly be doing everything possible to make it back for Game 7.
-
Donovan Mitchell CLE SG
Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Plays lone hand in loss
2h agoMitchell finished Friday's 103-96 loss to the Magic in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with 50 points (22-36 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 3-6 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one block in 42 minutes.
Mitchell outscored the rest of the Cavaliers roster, dropping 50 points in the loss. He scored all of Cleveland's points in the final quarter. He is going to need more help on the offensive end should the Cavaliers hope to advance to the second round, where the Celtics await.
-
Juuse Saros NSH G
Predators' Juuse Saros: Comes up short in Game 6
1m agoSaros stopped 28 of 29 shots in Friday's 1-0 loss to the Canucks in Game 6.
Saros was excellent, going save for save with Arturs Silovs for nearly the whole game. Pius Suter had the breakthrough for the Canucks with 1:39 left in the third period, and that goal was the one to end the Predators' season. Despite a 2-4 record in the playoffs, Saros allowed just 12 goals on 120 shots over six contests, with Friday marking the first time he'd faced more than 21 shots in a game all series. The Finnish goalie is under contract for one more season at a $5 million cap hit, so it's possible his name could swirl in trade rumors if the Predators opt to shake things up.
-
Jake Oettinger DAL G
Stars' Jake Oettinger: Starting Game 6
4h agoOettinger will get the starting nod for Game 6 in Vegas on Friday, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
Oettinger has been dominant over the last three games, leading the Stars from a 2-0 deficit to a 3-2 lead. Over that span, he's coughed up just six goals on 95 shots. Through five appearances this series, Oetinger has posted a .911 save percentage and a 2.31 GAA.
-
Luke Schenn NSH D
Predators' Luke Schenn: Good to go Friday
7h agoSchenn (illness) will play Friday in Game 6 against Vancouver, Nick Kieser of 102.5 ESPN Nashville reports.
Schenn will return after missing Game 5 on Tuesday. The veteran blueliner has averaged 15:03 of ice time with 12 hits through four games this series. He'll skate in a second-pairing role Friday.
-
Cole Smith NSH LW
Predators' Cole Smith: Unavailable Friday
7h agoSmith (upper body) will not play Friday against the Canucks for Game 6.
Smith is considered day-to-day, indicating he could return Sunday for Game 7 if Nashville avoids elimination. The 28-year-old has 12 hits and no points in five games this series. Juuso Parssinen will dress in Smith's absence for Game 6.
-
Juuse Saros NSH G
Predators' Juuse Saros: Tending twine Friday
7h agoSaros will face the Canucks at home for Game 6 on Friday.
Saros turned away 19 of 20 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 Game 5 win to force Game 6. Through five games this series, he's allowed only 11 goals but it's come with a lackluster .879 save percentage. To avoid elimination, Saros will need to earn consecutive wins for the first time since April 4 and 7.
-
Michael DiPietro BOS G
Bruins' Michael DiPietro: Returns to minors
9h agoDiPietro was reassigned to AHL Providence on Friday, per Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal.
DiPietro was summoned Tuesday so the Bruins would have a third goaltender on their playoff roster. He might be recalled ahead of Game 7 on Saturday against Toronto to continue to serve that function. DiPietro hasn't played for Boston in the regular season or playoffs in 2023-24, but he did record a 2.51 GAA and a .918 save percentage in 30 regular-season outings with Providence.
