  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Cleared for takeoff against Jets

Rousseau (knee) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jets. Rousseau practiced without limitations Friday after a pair of limited sessions, helping him get the green light to suit up Sunday against Buffalo's green-clad AFC East rivals. Buffalo's 2021 first-round pick is looking for his first sack of the season after tying his career high with 8.0 during the 2024 regular season.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Dealing with knee injury

Rousseau was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a knee injury. Rosseau played 35 of 51 defensive snaps during the Bills' Week 1 win over the Ravens and finished with three solo tackles and a pass defense. He may have picked up a knee injury during the victory, but he'll have two more chances to log a full practice and avoid an injury tag heading into Sunday's AFC East clash against the Jets.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Can't rush passer much Sunday

Rousseau recorded three tackles (three solo) and a pass defensed during Sunday's 41-40 win versus the Ravens. Lamar Jackson only attempted 19 passes on a day where Baltimore averaged 8.2 yards per rush attempt as a team, so Rousseau didn't get many opportunities to pin his ears back in Week 1. The Bills' matchup against the Jets in Week 2 doesn't necessarily lend itself to many chances to rush the quarterback either, so Rousseau might have to try to make the most of every shot he gets.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Inks four-year extension

Rousseau agreed to a four-year, $80 million contract extension with the Bills on Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The 2021 first-round pick has been a stalwart for the Bills' defense in his first four years in the NFL. He's coming off a 2024 campaign in which he logged 53 tackles (36 solo), including 8.0 sacks (tying a career best), three pass defenses, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery across 16 regular-season games while adding 2.0 sacks across the Bills' three playoff contests. Rousseau will continue to serve as a linchpin for Buffalo's defense alongside Terrel Bernard, A.J. Epenesa and Ed Oliver.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Monster outing in win

Rousseau recorded seven total tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks and an additional two tackles for loss, in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Dolphins. The fourth-year pro wreaked havoc on the Dolphins' offensive line in Sunday's win, as he was the only Bill to take down Tua Tagovailoa while also logging an additional two tackles for loss. Rousseau is having one of the best seasons of his young career through nine games, recording 33 total tackles, including 4.5 sacks, and two passes defended. He's expected to continue causing problems for opposing offenses as the Bills face the Colts in Week 10.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Bats down two passes Sunday

Rousseau recorded four tackles (three solo) and two passes defensed during Sunday's 31-10 win at Seattle. Rousseau's production in the sack column has dried up since he tallied 3.0 sacks in Week 1 versus the Cardinals, but he proved Sunday he can still make an impact without getting to the quarterback. He'll be after Tua Tagovailoa when Buffalo hosts the Dolphins in Week 9.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Has monster start to year

Rousseau recorded six tackles (all solo) including 3.0 sacks, and a forced fumble during Sunday's 34-28 win versus the Cardinals. One of his sacks in Week 1 came on a foot race to the sideline with Kyler Murray, whose exceptional speed Rousseau was basically able to match after shedding right tackle Jonah Williams (knee). It's a dynamite start for a player looking for the first double-digit sack season of his career. He'll be pursuing Tua Tagovailoa when the Bills trek to Miami in Week 2.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Ready for next step?

Rousseau completed the 2023 regular season with 42 tackles (including 5.0 sacks), four passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Rousseau saw a career-high snaps on defense (558), so perhaps it's a bit disappointing that he fell eight tackles short of his rookie season and 3.0 sacks short of the career-high 8.0 he posted in 2022. With the playoff perennial Bills facing so much turnover on both sides of the ball, the 2021 first-rounder may be expected to hit another gear if the team is to take a fifth straight AFC East title. A.J. Epenesa has already proven capable of helping Rousseau with the pass rush on the other side of the line, but everyone could gain if Von Miller, who's missed significant time the past two seasons, can consistently spark the pass rush.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Good to go vs. Giants

Rousseau (foot) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game versus the Giants. After sitting out in Week 5 versus Jacksonville with a foot injury, Rousseau will be available for Week 6. He should step right back into a significant role on Buffalo's defensive line Sunday.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Misses practice Wednesday

Rousseau (foot) did not participate at practice Wednesday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. It's not clear whether he picked up the injury during the week or during Sunday's game versus the Dolphins. It's also not clear whether his status for Week 5 is actually in any jeopardy, so it will be worth keeping an eye on Buffalo's injury reports Thursday and Friday.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Two sacks in win

Rousseau had three tackles including two sacks in Sunday's 48-20 win over the Dolphins. Rousseau is up to 3.0 sacks on the season, tied for second on the team with Ed Oliver and half a sack behind Leonard Floyd. The defensive front should soon receive even more support with Von Miller (knee) returning to practice this week.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Makes strides in second season

Rousseau finished the 2022 regular season with 37 tackles, eight sacks, four passes defended and one forced fumble over 13 games. The 8.0 sacks -- which co-led the team with Von Miller -- is the number that sticks out the most considering Rousseau missed time with an ankle injury and also that the Bills typically rotate their defensive linemen more than most teams. He also stepped it up after Miller was lost for the season with a knee injury. Rousseau has mammoth size and has now proven a knack for getting after the quarterback, so he could be relied upon for more in the 2023 season, as the Bills have some cap issues and likely won't be able to run as deep as they have the last two seasons.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Practices without limitations

Rousseau (ankle) was a full participant in practice Monday. Rousseau said Sunday that he feels close to full health, and Monday's full participation backs up that notion. After missing Buffalo's previous three games, Rousseau's poised to return for Thursday's road game in New England.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Ruled out for Thanksgiving

Rousseau (ankle) has been ruled for Thursday's contest versus the Lions, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Rousseau will be unavailable for a third consecutive game as he continues to nurse an ankle injury as Buffalo faces off with Detroit on Thanksgiving Day. He'll now shift his focus to a potential return in Week 13 against the Patriots.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Ruled out for Week 11

Rousseau (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Browns, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Rousseau will miss a second consecutive game in Week 11 after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 9 versus the Jets. The defensive end will now shift his focus to being ready for the Bills' Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Lions on Thursday.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Ruled out for Sunday

Rousseau (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. Rousseau suffered a high-ankle sprain in a Week 9 matchup with the Jets, missing the second half of that contest. The 22-year-old defensive end has recorded 21 total tackles so far this season, and his five sacks are good for the second-highest total on Buffalo's formidable defense. In Rousseau's absence, A.J. Epenesa and Shaq Lawson should see increased playing time.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Dealing with high-ankle sprain

Rousseau sustained a high-ankle sprain during Sunday's 20-17 loss at the Jets and is considered week-to-week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Rousseau missed the second half of Buffalo's loss in Week 9 with the injury, and he's now in jeopardy of missing multiple games as he recovers. The sophomore first-rounder was on pace for a 12-sack season heading into Sunday's game, but until he's ready to return, A.J. Epenesa and Shaq Lawson should see increased reps.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Questionable to return

Rousseau is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bears with an ankle injury. Rousseau did not record a tackle in the first half and was listed as questionable coming out of halftime. With the 2021 first-round pick sidelined, expect Carlos Basham and A.J. Epenesa to step up into bigger roles opposite Von Miller on Sunday.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Career high in tackles

Rousseau recorded seven tackles (five solo) in the Bills' 41-15 loss to the Colts on Sunday. Rousseau continues to make an impact on the defensive line in his rookie year. The Bills' 2021 first-round selection now has 33 tackles, three sacks, a pass defensed and an interception on the season.

  • Bills' Greg Rousseau: Enjoys breakout game

Rousseau managed five tackles (four solo), one sack, one pass breakup and one interception during Sunday night's win over the Chiefs. Rousseau put together the best game of his young career against a fellow AFC powerhouse, bringing him to three sacks on the season. The rookie first-round pick earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance, and he'll get another primetime matchup Week 6 in the form of a Monday night road game in Tennessee.
