  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Starting rehab assignment

Bohm (ribs) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Bohm was placed on the 10-day injured list July 19 due to a left rib fracture but has made enough progress in his recovery to test himself in a game setting. He'll likely need at least a few games in the minors to regain his timing at the plate, but he could be ready to rejoin the Philadelphia lineup by next weekend. While Bohm has been on the shelf, Otto Kemp and Edmundo Sosa have been sharing time at third base.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Hits in cage, gets reps in field

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said that Bohm (rib) fielded ground balls and hit in the batting cage prior to Sunday's game against the Tigers, MLB.com reports. Thomson noted that Bohm is pain-free as he works his way back from a fractured left rib and is drawing closer to beginning a rehab assignment. Since Bohm was placed on the injured list July 19, the Phillies have been getting by with a combination of Otto Kemp and Edmundo Sosa at third base.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Participates in baseball activities

Bohm (ribs) took dry swings, hit off a practice tee and fielded groundballs prior to Tuesday's game against the White Sox, per MLB.com. Bohm also ran and threw among the other baseball activities, which is an encouraging sign in his recovery from a fractured left rib. The corner infielder remains without a definitive timetable for a return to Philadelphia's roster, but it's possible his absence will extend into mid-August. In the meantime, Otto Kemp should continue to serve as the Phillies' primary third baseman.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Placed on injured list

The Phillies placed Bohm on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a fractured left rib. Bohm took a pitch off his ribcage last Saturday, which caused him to miss the final game before the All-Star break. He attempted to play through it Friday, but imaging revealed a fracture after the game, so he'll now spend time on the IL while Otto Kemp fills in as Philadelphia's third baseman. Weston Wilson was recalled from Triple-A to replenish the Phillies' infield depth.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Taking seat Saturday

Bohm isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels. Bohm will get a chance to rest Saturday after going 0-for-4 in the Phillies' first game back from the break. Otto Kemp will fill the void at third base and bat sixth.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Not starting Sunday

Bohm (ribs) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres. As expected, Bohm won't start in the Phillies' final game before the All-Star break after he was lifted from Saturday's 5-4 loss in the fourth inning, two innings after he was hit on the left rib cage by a pitch. According to Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Bohm wasn't sent in for an X-rays after team trainers determined that he avoided a fracture, but the 28-year-old is still dealing with some residual soreness and bruising on his rib. Manager Rob Thomson didn't rule out the possibility of Bohm making a pinch-hitting appearance Sunday, though the Phillies would probably prefer to stay away from using him. Edmundo Sosa will fill in for Bohm at third base.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Unlikely to play Sunday

Phillies manager Rob Thomson said after Saturday's 5-4 loss to San Diego that Bohm (ribs) is doubtful to play in Sunday's series finale, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Bohm was hit by a pitch in the left ribs during the second inning Saturday, though he was able to stay in the game for another two frames. Thomson said after the contest that Bohm didn't get an MRI, but he explained that Bohm is "pretty sore," adding that the injury may have affected the third baseman's swing. Sunday is the final game of the first half for Philadelphia, so if Bohm sits out, he'll have five full days to recover before the start of the second half Friday. Edmundo Sosa took over at third base following Bohm's exit and could start at the hot corner Sunday.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Exits game with bruised rib

Bohm was pulled from Saturday's contest against San Diego due to a bruised left rib, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. Bohm was plunked by a pitch in the ribs in the second inning but initially remained in the contest, and he even rounded the bases to score in that frame. He had another at-bat in the third but was replaced defensively by Edmundo Sosa in the bottom of the fourth frame. Given that he wasn't yanked immediately, Bohm may not be dealing with a major injury, though the Phillies could opt to hold him out of the lineup Sunday to give him ample time to recover given that it's the final game before the All-Star break.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Receiving rare game off

Bohm is out of the lineup for the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Padres. Bohm will exit the lineup for the first time since May 10, ending a stretch of 46 consecutive starts for the veteran infielder. Edmundo Sosa will fill in at third base in the early contest in place of Bohm, who will presumably return to the starting nine for the nightcap.

The 28-year-old capped the scoring for the Phillies on the afternoon with a solo shot off Genesis Cabrera in the seventh inning. Since the beginning of May, Bohm is batting a blistering .333 (47-for-141) in 37 contests with all six of his homers on the year, plus 16 runs and 20 RBI.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Pair of knocks in win

Bohm went 2-for-5 in Monday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the Cubs. Although Bohm saw his 10-game hitting streak come to an end on May 30, he's maintained healthy production in the past few weeks. Over his last 20 outings, the 28-year-old infielder is hitting. 305 (25-for-82) with three homers, three doubles, eight RBI and nine runs scored. Bohm has hit either third or fourth in Philadelphia's batting order nine times in his last 12 contests, and he should continue to bat in those positions while Bryce Harper (wrist) is on the injured list.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Pops solo shot

Bohm went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and three strikeouts in Saturday's 9-6 extra-innings win over the Athletics. Bohm is up to four homers on the year, three of which he's hit over his last 10 games. In that span, he's gone 13-for-40 (.325) with eight RBI and three doubles as well. The third baseman started slow this year but has a respectable .267/.304/.382 slash line with 20 RBI, 20 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple and one stolen base over 49 contests. His starting job at the hot corner is secure, but he has regularly hit in the bottom half of the order for most of the season.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Belts two-run homer in win

Bohm went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in a 9-3 victory versus the Rockies on Monday. Bohm's long ball was a big one, as he belted a two-run shot in the eighth inning to give the Phillies their first lead. It was just the third homer of the season for the third baseman but his second over his past five contests. Bohm has been swinging a hot stick throughout May, batting .339 with the two homers, eight RBI and seven runs through 16 games.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Lifts second homer

Bohm went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in a 14-7 loss to the Cardinals in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader. Bohm brought the Phillies back within two runs in the fourth inning, but that was as close as they'd get before the Cardinals rallied late. Power has been a problem for Bohm this season -- he doubled his total of extra-base hits in May with a homer and a double in this contest. However, he's been more consistent at the plate lately, going 15-for-42 (.357) over 12 contests this month. Overall, he's batting .258 with a .650 OPS, two homers, 13 RBI, 16 runs scored, six doubles, one triple and a stolen base over 40 games.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Continues to hit for average

Bohm went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Thursday's 7-6 extra-inning victory over the Rays. Through his first seven games in May, Bohm is batting .308 with one home run, one double, four RBI and four runs scored over 26 at-bats. The corner infielder hasn't hit for much power overall in 2025, but he's batting .304 (24-for-79) across his last 21 outings. Bohm began the season in the top half of Philadelphia's lineup, but he'll likely stick in the lower part of the batting order unless he starts to supply more pop.

  • Phillies' Alec Bohm: Moved down to seven spot

Bohm will start at third base and bat seventh in Thursday's game in Atlanta, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. Bohm hadn't previously hit lower than cleanup, but he'll be moved down to a less prominent spot in the lineup after going just 1-for-18 at the plate over his last four games. Nick Castellanos will be the Phillies' cleanup hitter Thursday.
