  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Slugs fourth homer

Vientos went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks. The third baseman took Corbin Burnes deep in the third inning. Vientos caught fire in the second half of April -- all four of his homers on the season have come in his last 11 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .310/.362/.667 with nine runs and 11 RBI.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Stays hot in Monday's rout

Vientos went 2-for-4 with two walks, a three-run home run and three additional runs scored in Monday's 19-5 rout of the Nationals. Hitting ahead of Brandon Nimmo -- who tied a Mets record with nine RBI on the day -- paid dividends for Vientos, but the third baseman also capped the team's offensive eruption in the ninth inning with his third homer of the season. Vientos has hit safely in six straight games and 12 of his last 13, slashing .320/.364/.600 over that stretch with all three of his long balls, 11 runs and 13 RBI.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Drives in three against Nats

Vientos went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI in Friday's loss to the Nationals. The 25-year-old third baseman had a slow start to the season, but Vientos is heating up rapidly. He's hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, batting .289 (11-for-38) during that stretch with six extra-base hits (three doubles, a triple and two homers), seven runs and nine RBI.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Good to go Tuesday

Vientos (groin) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Tuesday against the Phillies. Vientos sat out the past two contests after exiting Saturday's game due to groin discomfort, but he's ready to rejoin the starting nine for Tuesday's matchup with Philadelphia. The 25-year-old went 0-for-2 during Saturday's contest, which broke a modest six-game hit streak during which he had an .945 OPS.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Remains idle Monday

Vientos (groin) remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Vientos was forced to leave Saturday's game against the Cardinals and will miss a second straight start, though he did take ground balls Monday and is scheduled to hit later in the afternoon, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. With Vientos still idle, Brett Baty will make the start at third base and bat eighth against Aaron Nola.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Won't play Sunday due to injury

Vientos (groin) told reporters after Saturday's 3-0 win over the Cardinals that he will be out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports. Vientos was replaced by Brett Baty in the fifth inning with groin discomfort, and the former believed that was due to cramping from dehydration. Vientos didn't seem too concerned about the injury, but he'll be sent for imaging if he's still sore in the morning. Baty figures to draw the start at third base in Vientos' absence Sunday.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Exits game with groin injury

Vientos was removed in the fifth inning of Saturday's game against the Cardinals due to groin discomfort, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. Vientos went 0-for-2 before being replaced by Brett Baty in the fifth frame. The severity of Vientos' injury isn't clear, but he'll undergo more testing and an update should be made by the team during or shortly after the conclusion of Saturday's contest.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Homers again Friday

Vientos went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Cardinals. The 25-year-old appears to be shaking off his early-season slump. Vientos has hit safely in six straight games, batting .292 (7-for-24) over that stretch with two doubles, two homers, five runs and five RBI.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Goes yard for first time in 2025

Vientos went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Cardinals. It was a much-needed first homer of the year for Vientos, who took Cardinals right-hander Andre Pallante yard to open the scoring Thursday in the second inning. Vientos is slashing a dismal .152/.253/.258 with four doubles, five RBI and six runs scored through 66 at-bats (18 games), but fantasy managers should try to stay patient with the slugging corner infielder. As long as Vientos is hitting in the heart of New York's star-studded lineup, he should see plenty of RBI opportunities going forward.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Taking seat amid struggles

Vientos is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins. Vientos will get his first day off of the season after struggling to a .145/.254/.210 batting line while failing to hit a home run through 71 plate appearances. Brett Baty will get the nod at third base Wednesday, but he's mustered a lowly .361 OPS so far this season and likely doesn't present a major threat to Vientos' standing atop the depth chart.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Socks first spring homer

Vientos went 1-for-2 with a walk and a two-run home run in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals. After Francisco Lindor reached on an error to lead off the bottom of the first inning for the Mets, Vientos crushed a Jake Irvin pitch over the fence in left-center field. It was the third baseman's first long ball of the spring, and Vientos has had a solid camp so far, batting .273 (6-for-22) with a 1:3 BB:K in eight appearances. After a breakout 2024, New York is counting on the 25-year-old to handle a spot in the heart of the batting order this season.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Sticking at third base

Vientos is slated to remain at third base for the Mets following their re-signing of Pete Alonso, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Vientos was set to shift to first base when it looked like Alonso was headed elsewhere, but he'll now get to stick at the hot corner. The 25-year-old appears set to bat cleanup behind Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto and Alonso, setting him up for plenty of RBI opportunities.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Being viewed as third baseman

Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Monday that the team views Vientos as its third baseman right now, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports. "Right now" is key, of course, as the Mets seem virtually certain to acquire a corner infielder and that will help determine whether Vientos plays the hot or cold corner. Regardless of the position he plays, Vientos is going to occupy a spot in the middle of the Mets' lineup, perhaps batting third after Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Not in lineup for second game

Vientos is absent from the lineup for the second game of Monday's doubleheader against Atlanta, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. Vientos will get a breather for the second game after the Mets wrapped up a playoff spot with their win in the first contest. Jose Iglesias will shift over to third base while Eddy Alvarez gets a start at second base.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Hits two homers, including walk-off

Vientos went 3-for-5 with two home runs, four RBI and an additional run scored in Friday's 6-4 win against Cincinnati. The Mets' third baseman opened the game's scoring when he laced a 368-foot, two-run homer off opener Fernando Cruz in the first inning. Vientos then capped the game's scoring when he cracked a walk-off, 401-foot, two-run blast in the 10th. The 24-year-old has been a significant source of power this season, as he's now slashing .289/.342/.563 with 24 homers, 62 RBI and 50 runs scored across 368 plate appearances in 91 games. Vientos now has multiple hits in four of his past five games.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Idle Monday

Vientos isn't in the Mets' lineup for Monday's game versus the Red Sox. After going 5-for-14 with an RBI during New York's last series against the White Sox, Vientos will get a chance to rest during Monday's series opener. Jose Iglesias will start at the hot corner instead and bat fifth.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Getting breather Thursday

Vientos isn't in the Mets' lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks. Vientos will get a chance to rest Thursday after slashing .256/.273/.442 with two homers and seven RBI over his last 10 games. Jose Iglesias will take his place at the hot corner and bat seventh.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Two hits, three RBI in win

Vientos went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Padres. Vientos doubled home the Mets' first run of the game in the opening frame and later added a two-run single in the top of the ninth to extend his team's lead to four runs. It marked the second consecutive multi-hit effort for the third baseman and the fourth in his last eight games. Vientos also extended his hitting streak to 10 games with Thursday's performance, and he's now driven in at least one run in three straight.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Homers twice Thursday

Vientos went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs and three total RBI in Thursday's 7-6 loss to the A's. Batting out of the two-hole for the first time this year, Vientos certainly made a case to stay at the top of the order -- the third baseman launched a two-run homer off Mitch Spence in the third inning before adding a solo shot off Michel Otanez in the fourth. Vientos had cooled off a bit after a hot start to his season. Thursday's performance was his first multi-hit game since July 26 -- he'd gone 10-for-50 (.200) in the following 15 contests heading into Thursday. Still, it's been an impressive campaign overall for Vientos, who's established himself as a regular in the Mets' lineup. He's now slashing .275/.333/.557 through 288 plate appearances with 19 homers, 48 RBI and 38 runs scored.

  • Mets' Mark Vientos: Sitting again Tuesday

Vientos (ankle) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. The 24-year-old was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup against the Mariners due to left ankle soreness, and he'll sit for a second consecutive game Tuesday. According to Laura Albanese of Newsday, Vientos is expected to be available off the bench and should rejoin the lineup Wednesday. Jose Iglesias will receive a start at third base and bat seventh.
