Fantasy News

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Available in Week 5

Lawrence (illness) is active for Sunday's game in New Orleans, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Despite not practicing in any capacity during Week 5 prep due to an illness, Lawrence will be available to the Giants defense Sunday. Whether he'll be able to handle his typical workload of roughly two thirds of the defensive snaps remains to be seen, but he's managed just nine tackles and the first interception of his seven-year career through four contests this season.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Questionable to face New Orleans

Lawrence (illness) did not participate in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints. Lawrence has been under the weather all week, which prevented him participating in practice. The 2019 first-rounder will have the weekend to recover from his illness, but his official status for Sunday's game may not be announced until approximately 90 minutes before the 1:00pm ET kickoff. D.J. Davidson -- who has been cleared to play after nursing a foot injury this past week -- would be in line for a bigger role on the Giants' defensive interior if Lawrence is not cleared to play.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Incentives added to contract

The Giants added $3 million in incentives to Lawrence's (elbow) current contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Lawrence is set to make $17 million this season in addition to the added incentives, and the 2019 first-rounder is under contract with the Giants through 2027. Despite missing the final five games of the 2024 regular season due to a dislocated left elbow, Lawrence still managed to log a career-high 9.0 sacks through 12 games.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Goes on IR

Lawrence (elbow) was placed on injured reserve Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Lawrence dislocated his elbow in Thursday's game against the Cowboys and was expected to miss the remainder of the season. His move to injured reserve all but assures it, as the Giants will only have their Week 18 game remaining once he's eligible to return to the active roster.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Getting MRI

Lawrence will have an MRI on his elbow in the next few days, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports. Lawrence dislocated his elbow in Thursday's Thanksgiving Day loss to Dallas. While the MRI will provide insight into the extent of the injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the All-Pro nose tackle is expected to miss the rest of the campaign. It's a big blow to the Giants defense, as Lawrence has been dominant this season and leads the team with 9.0 sacks.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Dislocates elbow vs. Dallas

Lawrence (elbow) said he dislocated his elbow during Thursday's 27-20 loss to the Cowboys and is not sure on a potential timeline to return, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports. Lawrence is expected to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, although Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reported that the defensive tackle was spotted in a sling with what Lawrence described as a "popped elbow." Lawrence logged three tackles (two solo) before leaving Thursday's game due to the injury.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: All good for Week 8

Lawrence (hip) was limited in Saturday's practice but does not carry an injury designation for Monday's contest against the Steelers, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports. Lawrence will be available as the 2-5 Giants look to rebound versus Pittsburgh on Monday Night Football. The standout defensive lineman has already tallied a career-high 9.0 sacks through seven regular-season appearances in 2024.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Limited Friday

Lawrence (hip) was a limited participant in Friday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Lawrence appears to be trending in the right direction ahead of Monday night's matchup against the Steelers, as he upgraded from a DNP on Thursday to a limited session Friday. His participation Saturday will likely provide the best indication of whether he can play through his hip injury in Week 8.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Good to go vs. Eagles

Lawrence (hip) is active for Sunday's game against Philadelphia, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Lawrence opened the week with consecutive DNPs, but he was able to draw a questionable tag after practicing in a limited capacity Friday. He's unlikely to be at 100 percent health, but he will play through the hip injury in Sunday's NFC East showdown. The 2019 first-round pick has logged 7.0 sacks through the first six games of the regular season, which is tied with Will McDonald for second-most in the NFL behind Aidan Hutchinson's (tibula/fibula) 7.5 sacks.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Questionable for Sunday

Lawrence (hip) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports. Lawrence upgraded to a limited session Friday after logging back-to-back DNPs to begin the Giants' week of practice, so it appears he's trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's divisional matchup. However, if the All-Pro defensive tackle is unable to suit up in Week 7, expect Jordon Riley to see additional snaps with the Giants' first-team defense.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: DNP on Thursday

Lawrence (hip) did not participate in Thursday's practice session, Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic reports. Lawrence has been sidelined during the Giants' first two practices of the week due to a hip injury. The All-Pro defensive tackle has indicated that he intends to play Sunday against the Eagles, but he'll need to practice in at least a limited capacity Friday to avoid an injury designation. Lawrence has registered 19 tackles (12 solo), including 7.0 sacks, and one pass breakup through the first six games of the regular season.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Dominant in Week 5

Lawrence recorded four total tackles (two solo), including 3.0 sacks, in Sunday's 29-20 win over the Seahawks. The All-Pro defensive lineman was a significant part of the Giants' defensive success in Sunday's win, sacking Geno Smith three times and logging one additional quarterback hit. Lawrence has now accumulated 16 total tackles, including 6.0 sacks, and defended one pass across the Giants' first five contests. He's expected to continue wreaking havoc on opposing offenses as the Bengals travel to New York in Week 6.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Ready for Week 4

Lawrence (foot) has no injury designation ahead of Thursday night's matchup with the Cowboys, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Lawrence was dealing with a foot injury after his two-sack performance against the Browns in Week 3, but it now appears he'll play through the pain Thursday night. Expect the 26-year-old to continue serving as the Giants' top interior defensive lineman in Week 4's divisional matchup against the Cowboys.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Dealing with foot injury

Lawrence (foot) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's practice estimation, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Lawrence played 53 defensive snaps and recorded three total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, during Sunday's win over the Browns, but he appears to have sustained a foot injury during the process. The All-Pro defensive tackle will likely suit up for Thursday night's divisional matchup with the Cowboys, unless he downgrades to a DNP either Tuesday or Wednesday.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Logs Week 1 sack

Lawrence recorded three tackles, including 1.0 sacks, in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. Lawrence sacked Minnesota QB San Darnold on the Vikings' first drive of the contest to help force a three-and-out. Though the Clemson product is considered one of the league's premier defensive linemen, he doesn't typically put up big sack numbers, and he recorded a modest 4.5 sacks last year. However, Lawrence's impact on the Giants' pass rush is monumental, as evidenced by his six quarterback pressures Sunday.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Sees first preseason action

Lawrence didn't notch any tackles but deflected a pass in Saturday's preseason loss against Houston. Lawrence didn't play in the Giants' preseason opener last week versus Detroit, so this was his first chance to shake off any offseason rust in game action. He made an impressive play in the first quarter, batting down a C.J. Stroud pass attempt on fourth down to shut down a potential scoring drive. Lawrence is one of the league's top defensive linemen and will lead a New York pass rush that could be very formidable with the offseason addition of Brian Burns.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Clears cap space with restructure

Lawrence agreed Thursday to restructure his contract with the Giants, creating $7.5 million in cap space for the team, Darryl Slater of NJ.com reports. New York converted $10 million of Lawrence's base salary into a signing bonus, and pushed $7.5 million of that total into future years to create extra cap space. Last season Lawrence earned second-team All-Pro honors after notching 53 tackles and 4.5 sacks. He's entering the second season of a four-year, $87.5 million contract extension inked last May.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Enjoys All-Pro campaign in 2023

Lawrence finished the regular season with 53 tackles (32 solo), including 4.5 sacks, over 16 games. Lawrence didn't stuff the stat sheet, and his numbers were lower across the board in comparison to his 2022 campaign, but his impact on New York's defense continued to be as enormous as his physical stature. For his excellence, the fifth-year nose tackle earned his second straight selection as both a Pro Bowler and an AP Second Team All-Pro. The Giants appear wise to have inked Lawrence to a four-year extension last May, as he's set to anchor the team's defensive front for years to come.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Ready for Sunday

Lawrence (hamstring) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. The All-Pro defensive tackle had been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury, but it seems that he's had enough time to move past the issue. Lawrence has recorded 50 total tackles, including 4.5 sacks, through 14 games this season, and he'll look to cause problems for a red-hot Rams offense in Week 17.

  • Giants' Dexter Lawrence: Practices in limited fashion

Lawrence (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports. Lawrence was able to play through his hamstring issue in Week 16, but this injury still seems to be hindering the 26-year-old. Despite being able to up his participation Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's session, the All-Pro defensive tackle could very well carry an injury designation into the weekend if he doesn't practice in full Friday.
