  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Busy on basepaths Friday

Chourio went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two stolen bases in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Rays. His error in center field in the third inning helped Tampa Bay get on the board, but Chourio did his best to make up for it from the leadoff spot. The 21-year-old has been on a roll over the last couple weeks, slashing .304/.316/.446 since April 25 with one homer, three steals, four RBI and five runs in 13 contests.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Swipes bag in win

Chourio went 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Astros. Chourio posted his first multi-hit effort since April 27 and has hit safely in four straight games. The 21-year-old also swiped his first base since April 15, bringing him up to three on the year. Chourio's steals are trending down from his rookie season, likely due in part to the fact he's walking only 1.3 percent of the time. Thus far, Chourio is slashing .261/.273/.471 with 24 RBI, 23 runs and a 2:33 BB:K in 161 plate appearances.

Through 122 plate appearances, Chourio sports a .280/.295/.534 slash line with six homers, two steals, 23 RBI and 21 runs scored.

He's yet to draw a walk this season, but Chourio has otherwise been among the league's most impressive hitters, slashing .315/.309/.685 with four home runs, 16 RBI, 10 runs and a stolen base through 55 plate appearances.

Chourio first hit a Kyle Freeland fastball outside the strike zone and into the gap in left-center field for a two-run double in the third inning, and then stole third base and scored on a William Contreras single later in the frame. The speedy 21-year-old left fielder got to Freeland once more in the fifth, legging out a triple off the southpaw for his first three-bagger of the year. After striking out five times on Opening Day, Chourio has been on fire, hitting .341 with three home runs, five doubles, 11 RBI and seven runs scored through his last 10 games.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Will play some center field in 2025

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that Chourio will play some center field this season, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Chourio was primarily a center fielder in the minors, but the Brewers played him exclusively in the corner outfield spots in 2024 because, according to Murphy, Chourio "couldn't catch a flyball." The 20-year-old graded out with a plus-7 Outs Above Average in right field and a minus-1 OAA in left field last season. Murphy didn't reveal how much center field Chourio might play in 2025, but if he looks comfortable there, it would give the manager more potential lineup combinations.
