  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Collects trio of hits

Story went 3-for-4 with a run scored and one RBI in Monday's 4-2 victory over the White Sox. After receiving a breather Sunday, Story returned in this early Patriots' Day tilt and produced his fourth three-hit game of the season. The 32-year-old shortstop has been electric of late, batting .439 (18-for-41) with three home runs, 11 RBI and five runs scored over his last 10 games. Overall, Story is slashing .337/.366/.528 with five homers, six steals, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored in 93 plate appearances.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Not in starting nine Sunday

Story isn't starting Sunday's game against the White Sox, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. It's a routine day off for Story, as manager Alex Cora gave the veteran shortstop the option of sitting either Sunday or Monday, per Smith. Story has been on a heater of late, batting .405 with three home runs, 10 RBI and four stolen bases over his past nine games. The Red Sox are starting David Hamilton at shortstop in Story's place Sunday.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Posts 20th career multi-homer game

Story went 3-for-4 with a pair of three-run home runs and an additional run scored in Friday's win over the White Sox. It was the 20th career multi-homer game by Story, who first went yard in the first inning to get Boston on the board. He later got the rout fully underway with his second three-run jack, giving the Red Sox a 9-2 lead in the seventh inning. Although the oft-injured shortstop went just 2-for-15 in March, Story is batting .364 with five long balls, 14 RBI, eight runs scored and four stolen bases across 66 at-bats in the month of April and should be rostered in virtually all fantasy leagues at this point.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Swats third homer

Story went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI in Sunday's win over the White Sox. Story opened the game's scoring with a two-run double in the sixth inning and tacked on an insurance run with his solo shot in the ninth. He had just one extra-base hit in eight games since his last home run April 4. The veteran shortstop looks more like his vintage self with a strong .308/.328/.477 slash line through 67 plate appearances.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Steals another base

Story went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox. Story is off and running to start the 2025 season and is up to six stolen bases through 16 games. He's stolen at least one bag in three consecutive games. Of course, the Red Sox expect more than a .695 OPS (three extra-base hits) from the veteran shortstop, but the steals are helpful to fantasy managers.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Swipes two bags, walks it off

Story went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two stolen bases in Thursday's 4-3 extra-inning victory over the Blue Jays. After stealing two bases earlier in the outing, Story grounded out with the bases loaded to bring home the winning run in the ninth inning and walk it off for the Red Sox. The oft-injured shortstop went just 2-for-15 to open the season, but Story is picking it up in April, batting .316 with two home runs, one double and five RBI over 38 at-bats this month.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Homers in home opener

Story went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's 13-9 win over the Cardinals. Story got Fenway Park rocking in Boston's home opener with a three-run blast in the first inning. It was his second homer in the last three games. Healthy again after three injury-plagued seasons, Story could finally deliver on a six-year contract he signed in 2022.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Swats first homer

Story went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Baltimore. Story went deep for the first time in 2025, taking the first pitch he saw in the second inning over the fence in center field. While all eyes were focused on the historically slow start of teammate Rafael Devers, Story's 2-for-15 start (.133) flew under the radar.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: On bench Sunday

Story is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports. Story batted fifth in the first three games of the season but will head to the bench Sunday after going 1-for-11 with a walk, two stolen bases and two runs. David Hamilton will step in at shortstop and bat eighth in the series finale at Texas.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Swipes second bag

Story went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 4-1 loss to Texas. Story singled in the fourth inning, stole second and came in to score on a Wilyer Abreu single. It was the second steal in as many games for Story, who had double-digit steals each season from 2018 to 2023. His first three years with Boston have not gone well (.693 OPS, 163 games), making it easy to forget his level of production while with Colorado. The 32-year-old may never get back to those Rockies' numbers, but a healthy Story will serve as a middle-of-the-order bat for Boston.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Back in lineup Saturday

Story (back) is in the lineup for Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports. Back tightness led to Story being scratched Friday for the second time in 10 days. While he will make a quick turnaround, keeping Story in line for Opening Day, these issues will likely temper enthusiasm surrounding his strong spring (.333/.341/.615). Story has not reached 100 games played in a season since 2021.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Expected back Saturday

Manager Alex Cora said Friday that Story (back) is expected to play in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports. Story was scratched from Friday's lineup due to back tightness, which was particularly concerning given the fact he already missed a week earlier this spring due to a similar issue. While his latest injury doesn't seem to be anything severe, fantasy managers may want to take note of Story's frequent back issues, as the 32-year-old has been injured often since joining the Red Sox in 2022.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Dealing with more back issues

Story was scratched from Friday's Grapefruit League lineup versus the Pirates due to lower-back tightness, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports. It's the second time this month that Story has had to be scratched from the lineup because of a back problem, which is not ideal. He missed nearly a week of action the first time around, but it's not clear how long he might out this time. The Red Sox should have more on Story's condition later Friday.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Likely back in action Saturday

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Story (back) will most likely return to Grapefruit League play Saturday versus Atlanta, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports. Story was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with back tightness. The original plan was for him to return to action Wednesday, but the team has opted to give him a few more days. Story has been red-hot at the plate this spring, going 11-for-24 with a pair of home runs.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Expected back in lineup Wednesday

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that he expects Story (back) to return to the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Twins, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports. Story's back tightened up on him Tuesday while he was taking pregame grounders, forcing him to be scratched from the lineup. However, there is no concern about the injury and it sounds like it will be just a one-day absence. Story has had a superb spring training thus far, collecting a 1.355 OPS with two home runs.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Scratched with tight back

The Red Sox scratched Story from the lineup for Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies due to mild upper-back tightness, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports. Marcelo Mayer will start at shortstop in place of Story, whose removal from the lineup has been described as precautionary. Story -- who has gone 11-for-24 with a pair of home runs so far this spring -- can be viewed as day-to-day. He'll have plenty of time to move past the back issue before the Red Sox open their season March 27 in Texas.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Slugs two homers

Story went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and an additional run scored in Friday's spring game against Miami. The homers were the first of the spring for Story, and five of his 10 hits have gone for extra bases. He's served as Boston's cleanup hitter in six of seven Grapefruit League starts.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Out for regular-season finale

Story is absent from Sunday's lineup against the Rays. Nick Sogard will start at shortstop and bat sixth in the Red Sox's regular-season finale. Story's 2024 season looked to be over after dislocating his left shoulder in early April, but he was able to return to the big club in September. Since his return, Story has slashed .270/.361/.429 with two home runs and six RBI across 72 plate appearances.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Sitting for nightcap

Story is not in the lineup for the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Twins, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports. The Red Sox are starting a rather surprising number of regulars in both ends of the twin bill, but Story is not among those starting in Game 2, which makes sense given he just returned earlier in September after missing five months with a dislocated left shoulder. Story went 1-for-4 with a run scored and three strikeouts in the Red Sox's 8-1 win in the early game. Nick Sogard with take over at shortstop and bat sixth against right-hander Zebby Matthews.

  • Red Sox's Trevor Story: Productive in low-scoring contest

Story went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 2-1 win against the Rays. There wasn't much offense between the two teams, but Story stuffed the stat sheet anyway, belting a solo homer in the sixth inning and swiping a pair of bags. The long ball was the shortstop's second since he returned Sept. 7 from an absence of over five months due to a dislocated shoulder. Since being activated from the IL, Story has batted .286 (10-for-35) with four RBI and four steals over 10 games.
