Top Malik Nabers News

  • Giants' Malik Nabers: Remains sidelined Wednesday

Nabers (toe/shoulder) isn't participating in the Giants' joint practice with the Jets on Wednesday, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports.

The Giants have cleared a few players who sat out the team's first preseason game -- including fellow wideout Jalin Hyatt (undisclosed) -- to participate in Wednesday's practice, but Nabers isn't among them. The star receiver hasn't practiced since last Wednesday, and it's unclear at this point if the primary reason is the toe injury that has bothered him throughout the offseason or a shoulder issue that caused him to exit a practice early in late July. Nabers has stated that a limited workload during training camp is "part of the plan," per Dan Duggan and Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic, but head coach Brian Daboll hasn't said much about the wideout's status. It's worth noting that Daboll doesn't typically provide much detail about injuries, so it's hazy at this point when -- or if -- Nabers will get into a preseason contest.

  • Giants' Malik Nabers: Not on track to play Saturday

Based on pre-game warmups, Nabers (shoulder) is not in line to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Biils, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.

The same applies to Darius Slayton, who missed practice Thursday with an undisclosed injury. For his part, Nabers has been managing a shoulder issue, so it looks like the the Giants will play it safe with the wideout Saturday. The team's second preseason contest is Aug. 16 against the Jets.

  • Giants' Malik Nabers: Returning to practice Thursday

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday that Nabers (shoulder) will participate in practice, is "good," and that the team has a plan "that we think is best" for the wide receiver, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports.

Daboll's comments appeared to indicate that Nabers will take part in a limited practice Thursday, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. That's certainly a positive development after the star second-year wideout appeared to suffer a left shoulder injury during Tuesday's session, and especially given the fact that he'd already been managing a lingering toe issue. Expect New York to take a cautious approach to Nabers' recovery, but at such an early stage of training camp minor injuries should have little, if any, impact on his ADP as a first-round selection for 2025 fantasy drafts.

  • Giants' Malik Nabers: Injury severity downplayed

The Giants do not believe the shoulder injury that caused Nabers to leave the practice field under his own power early Tuesday to be serious, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

Nabers fell on his left shoulder while working as a blocker during a running play in team drills Tuesday, and he left the field with team head trainer Ronnie Barnes under his own power, but the decision to not have him return to practice was reportedly only a precautionary measure. New York has a rest day Wednesday, so Nabers' next chance to retake the practice field will come Thursday. It wouldn't be surprising to see New York take a cautious approach to the star wideout's recovery, and absences at such an early stage of training camp shouldn't be overblown. However, Nabers could use all the reps available as he works to build chemistry with a trio of new quarterbacks in Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart.

  • Giants' Malik Nabers: Leaves practice early Tuesday

Nabers exited Tuesday's practice session early after appearing to injure his shoulder while blocking on a run play, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

Nabers walked off the field under his own power with a trainer, per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. There aren't any indications that Nabers has sustained any sort of significant injury, with Dan Duggan of The Athletic noting that the second-year wideout may have simply been shaken up, but he at least appears done for the day. The 2024 first-round pick began training camp as a full practice participant, though head coach Brian Daboll has suggested that the toe injury that kept him sidelined throughout OTAs may need to be managed.
